Job Summary

Workday HCM Talent Consultant (Contract)

Context

  • Our client is currently implementing Workday across their organization, with a strong focus on Talent, Performance, and Succession capabilities.
  • The goal is not just a successful implementation, but to build internal capability and long-term self-sufficiency.
  • This consultant will play a critical dual role:
    • Delivering high-quality Workday configuration and advisory work
    • Training and upskilling internal team members to own and evolve the platform post-engagement
  • This is a long-term contract engagement with significant influence on enterprise workforce strategy and talent decision-making.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Workday Talent and HCM solutions
  • Architect and deliver enterprise Talent Review processes aligned with leadership and business objectives
  • Translate performance management, goal setting, and talent practices into scalable Workday configurations
  • Configure and optimize:
    • Talent & Performance
    • Succession Planning
    • Skills / Skills Cloud
    • Career & Development frameworks
  • Integrate data across modules (Performance, Talent, Succession, Skills) to enable holistic workforce insights
  • Build and deliver advanced reporting, dashboards, and analytics for:
    • Talent reviews
    • Promotion and advancement decisions
    • Succession pipelines
    • Workforce planning
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to align system design with workforce strategy
  • Identify and implement best practices and scalable design patterns within Workday
  • Provide hands-on training, documentation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring the organization can independently manage and enhance Workday post-engagement

Required Skills & Experience

  • Deep functional expertise in:
    • Workday Talent & Performance
    • Succession Planning
    • Skills / Skills Cloud
    • Career & Development
  • Proven experience designing and implementing Workday Talent Review processes at enterprise scale
  • Strong understanding of Workday data model dependencies (e.g., Performance → Talent → Succession)
  • Hands-on configuration experience within Workday (not just advisory)
  • Advanced reporting experience including:
    • Workday dashboards
    • Custom reports
    • Talent and workforce analytics
  • Ability to translate business processes into system configurations
  • Experience integrating:
    • Performance data
    • Potential assessments
    • Skills data
    • Role/job profiles
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and upskill internal teams
  • Experience working in complex, enterprise-scale environments
  • Workday HCM or Talent certification preferred but not required
