6 common mistakes companies make when hiring Salesforce Professionals (1)

Looking to hire top Salesforce talent?

Avoid these 6 common mistakes when hiring Salesforce professionals:

Vague job descriptions

If you don’t take the time to define the specific objectives of the role and the skills, certifications and experience required, you will hire the wrong candidate or, worse, you will hire the right candidate for the wrong job!

Unrealistic Budget

Don’t try to beat the market. In a competitive market, you will waste a lot of time or even end up hiring an unqualified candidate. That doesn’t mean that you have to spend top dollar. Determine where you can be flexible in your requirements and evaluate candidates for their potential as well as their experience.

Not checking references

References are your best guide to a candidate’s previous experience and performance. Don’t rush the process and miss this crucial information.

Failing to consider long term vs short term needs

Have you considered whether you need direct hire resources, contractors or a mix of both? Failing to consider these options properly, makes it hard to maximize your budget.  Take the time to understand which skills you need for a limited assignment vs. those that you will need for longer.

High Trail’s Teams-as-Service, which allows you to construct the right team for your project, might also be the answer.

Overlooking soft skills

Effective communication and problem-solving skills are just two of the soft skills required for success in most Salesforce roles. Not properly evaluating interpersonal skills might mean you hire someone who can’t accomplish your goals.

Long Interview Process

You risk losing top talent if your selection process is not clearly defined from the beginning, or if it includes too many stakeholders. In a competitive market it pays to have a simple and efficient interview process.
