How to set your new Salesforce hire up for success - JS (7)

The first few weeks of onboarding a new teammate are critical for setting the tone of a successful working relationship. Like a good first date, first impressions matter, especially after candidates sign offer letters and begin onboarding.

Investing in a mindful onboarding process will benefit the retention, productivity, and long-term success of your hires.

Welcoming a new hire doesn’t begin on their first day, it starts the moment they accept the offer. Staying connected during the period between the offer and the start date, builds trust and immediately makes them feel like part of the team. Small gestures make a big difference. Allowing other work to get in the way of setting up your teammate for day one, may lead to your new hire having a slow start, and leaving them thinking “…this is not what I signed up for”.

As day one approaches, create a clear onboarding plan. Who do you connect with internally to ensure your new team member is set up with their technology? Who will they meet during week one, to start getting to know the team? Getting ahead of this will ensure a smooth start.

It’s also important to note, that attention to the candidate experience does not stop after their first few weeks in the role: ongoing support, feedback and development make all the difference in building their long-term success.
