Job Summary

Position Summary

The University is seeking a Senior Financial Aid Systems Analyst to support and enhance enterprise financial aid operations within the Banner ERP environment, with a particular focus on Borrower-Based Academic Year (BBAY) administration, Global/online student populations, and Title IV compliance.

This role will serve as a key functional and technical resource within Financial Aid Operations, partnering closely with Enrollment Management, Student Systems, IT, and functional leadership to maintain and optimize complex financial aid awarding processes. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Banner Financial Aid configuration, federal loan and Pell processing, algorithmic awarding structures, and operational process sustainability.

This individual will play a critical role in ensuring continuity, scalability, and long-term institutional ownership of BBAY and Global awarding operations, including documentation, process optimization, knowledge transfer, and ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and support Banner Financial Aid processes related to BBAY, Pell, Direct Loans, and Title IV compliance
Maintain and optimize Global and nontraditional financial aid awarding structures within Banner
Configure and validate Banner Financial Aid rules, setup tables, academic year definitions, term mapping, enrollment intensity logic, and loan proration calculations
Support annual rollover activities, configuration validation, regression testing, and audit readiness
Develop sustainable, future-ready financial aid processes that minimize hard-coded logic and support long-term operational scalability
Partner with functional users across Financial Aid Counseling, Processing, Loan Operations, and Compliance teams to troubleshoot complex awarding and eligibility scenarios
Support algorithmic and rules-based awarding methodologies within Banner Financial Aid
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual processing activities, including scheduled job processing and workflow improvements
Create and maintain detailed functional documentation, job aids, process maps, and training materials
Deliver structured end-user training and knowledge transfer sessions to Financial Aid staff and operational leadership
Serve as a subject matter expert for Banner Financial Aid and federal aid regulations impacting BBAY and Global populations
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party implementation or consulting partners on ongoing enhancement initiatives
Support compliance monitoring, operational reporting, and audit-related activities associated with federal financial aid programs
 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of experience supporting Financial Aid operations within higher education
Deep functional expertise with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid
Strong understanding of federal Title IV regulations and compliance requirements
Hands-on experience supporting:
Borrower-Based Academic Year (BBAY)
Federal Direct Loans
Pell Grant processing
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
ISIR processing
COD reconciliation
Loan proration and annual loan limits
Experience configuring and supporting Banner Financial Aid rules and awarding processes
Knowledge of Global, online, modular, nontraditional, or accelerated academic program structures
Experience developing operational documentation and delivering end-user training
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and process improvement skills
Ability to translate complex federal regulations into scalable operational workflows
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting Banner Global awarding structures
Experience with Pell Formula 3 configuration and enrollment intensity logic
Familiarity with Banner job scheduling and automated batch processing
Experience supporting annual financial aid rollover and testing activities
Experience modernizing or optimizing manual financial aid processing workflows
Exposure to higher education consulting or implementation engagements
Experience working in environments undergoing organizational or operational transition
Knowledge of audit controls and compliance documentation best practices
