Software Engineer

Role Overview

• Brand new software engineering role focused primarily on front-end development in the near term, created to support modernization of flagship digital banking applications.
• The work is centered on modernizing the web application experience, with a strong emphasis on UX improvements, reusable/shared components, and CMS-driven content integration.
• The core application is an Angular-based digital banking web app. Mobile apps exist, but they are hybrid apps consuming the Angular web experience via web view, so this role is not focused on mobile development.
• The role is being opened because a current, more senior team member who has been covering similar responsibilities needs to shift focus to other initiatives
• The immediate business need is a direct modernization effort for the digital banking web experience.
• There is already a defined roadmap in place, along with dedicated resources including a UX designer and work around shared components and CMS integration
• candidates who can think critically, adapt in real time, and collaborate well with developers and test engineers.

Key Requirements

• Strong front-end engineering experience is the priority, ideally with Angular.
• Candidates with similar JavaScript framework experience such as React or Vue may also be considered if they have the right adjacent experience.
• Experience working with CMS-driven content is important; direct Contentful experience is helpful but not required.
• Experience building and maintaining reusable/shared component libraries is a key requirement.
• Candidates should understand how to inject externally managed content into reusable components and work within shared design/component systems.
• Some UX-related experience or affinity is important, given the modernization and user experience focus of the work.
• The role is not purely front-end long term, so candidates can have full-stack backgrounds, but they should be able to contribute immediately on front-end work.
• Git/GitHub experience is effectively expected as a baseline for modern web developers.
• The hiring team wants someone who genuinely understands the technologies they claim to know, rather than someone with only superficial or anecdotal exposure.
• Comfort using generative AI in development is seen as important, but candidates must still know how to code, read code, explain code, and disclose how they used AI.
• Target experience level is likely closer to 2-4 years, even though the job description says 1-3 years, because 1 year may be too light for the required depth.

• There is flexibility for someone to work from the office if they want to, but the role is fully remote for the team.
