Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Workday Financials Consultant to lead the implementation, configuration, and optimization of the Workday Financial Management platform. This individual will serve as the functional and technical expert across the full Financials suite and partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and HR leadership to ensure the system is architected for long-term scalability and operational excellence.

This is a high-impact role requiring deep expertise across the Workday Financials ecosystem, including Financial Accounting, Procurement, Expenses, Projects, Revenue Management, and integrations with Workday HCM.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting acumen, hands-on configuration experience, and executive-level stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Workday Financials

• Lead full-cycle implementation and post-production optimization initiatives

• Partner with Finance and Accounting leadership to translate business requirements into scalable system design

• Configure and optimize core Financial Management components, including:

  • General Ledger

  • Accounts Payable

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Asset Management

  • Cash Management

  • Revenue Management

  • Project Billing

• Lead procurement configuration, including:

  • Supplier Accounts

  • Sourcing

  • Purchase Orders

  • Supplier Contracts

  • Spend Categories

• Support Expenses and Business Process Framework (BPF) configuration

• Design and maintain:

  • Worktags and accounting structures

  • Business processes and approvals

  • Security roles and access controls

  • Custom reports and dashboards

• Collaborate with HR teams to ensure seamless integration between Workday HCM and Financials (e.g., payroll accounting, position costing)

• Oversee data migration, testing cycles, and go-live readiness

• Drive UAT sessions and stakeholder alignment

• Provide production support and recommend continuous improvement initiatives

Financials Modules Expertise Required

The consultant should have demonstrated experience across:

• Core Financial Management

• Procurement

• Supplier Management

• Expenses

• Projects and Grants (if applicable)

• Revenue Management

• Asset Management

• Cash Management

• Workday HCM-to-Financials integrations

• Reporting & Prism Analytics (preferred)

Training & Stakeholder Enablement

• Provide training and documentation for Finance, Procurement, and Accounting users

• Lead functional workshops and system walkthroughs

• Develop governance best practices for Worktag usage and financial controls

• Mentor internal system administrators

• Establish scalable operational procedures

• Act as a strategic advisor to Finance leadership

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of Workday ecosystem experience

• 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials implementation experience

• Led or played a key role in at least 2–3 full-cycle Financials implementations

• Strong understanding of:

  • GAAP / IFRS accounting principles

  • Financial reporting structures

  • Month-end close processes

  • Procurement lifecycle management

• Deep expertise in Workday:

  • Business Process Framework

  • Worktags and accounting configuration

  • Security configuration

  • Reporting and calculated fields

• Experience with financial data migration and reconciliation

• Strong integration experience (EIBs, Studio, Core Connectors)

• Excellent stakeholder management skills

• Ability to operate independently in complex environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Workday Financials Certification(s)

• Experience with multi-entity, global, or multi-currency environments

• Background in Accounting, CPA preferred

• Experience in public company or regulated industry environments

• Prior consulting experience (Big 4 or enterprise advisory)

• Experience with Workday Prism Analytics
