Software Architect (Cross-Platform)
Location: Remote / Hybrid
 
Overview
Our client is seeking a Software Architect to lead architectural strategy and governance across their enterprise technology landscape. This is a highly visible role responsible for defining and enforcing architectural patterns that span multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with business strategy and long-term scalability.
This position is distinct from platform-level architecture roles. Rather than focusing on a single system, you will operate horizontally across the organization: driving consistency, interoperability, and technical direction across cloud, data, integration, and application ecosystems.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Architecture Leadership
    • Define and drive architectural vision, standards, and patterns across multiple technology platforms
    • Ensure alignment between engineering execution and broader business strategy
  • Architectural Governance
    • Establish and lead architecture review boards, governance forums, and decision-making processes
    • Define guardrails, exception processes, and measurable standards for architectural compliance
  • Cross-Platform Design & Integration
    • Develop and enforce enterprise-wide integration strategies (APIs, event-driven systems, data contracts, identity/authentication patterns)
    • Ensure systems are designed for scalability, reliability, and interoperability
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration
    • Partner with platform architects and engineering teams to guide implementation while maintaining architectural integrity
    • Provide hands-on guidance when needed to ensure patterns are practical and executable
  • Decision Making & Conflict Resolution
    • Act as the final arbiter for architectural decisions across teams
    • Resolve trade-offs and conflicts between platforms, balancing speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify gaps in current architecture and proactively introduce improvements
    • Drive adoption of modern best practices across cloud, data, and application architecture

 
Required Experience

  • Proven experience owning architecture across multiple enterprise platforms, not just a single product or domain
  • Strong background in hands-on software engineering, with the ability to engage deeply with technical teams
  • Demonstrated success defining and enforcing architecture standards and governance models
  • Experience leading enterprise integration architecture, including:
    • API strategy
    • Event-driven architectures
    • Data contracts and data flow design
    • Identity and access management patterns
    • Observability and reliability frameworks
  • Track record of resolving architectural conflicts and influencing senior stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Experience implementing architecture operating models, including review boards, governance processes, and exception handling

 
Preferred Experience

  • Broad technical exposure across:
    • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
    • Data platforms and pipelines
    • Enterprise application ecosystems
    • Security architecture
  • Experience working in complex, scaling organizations with multiple engineering teams
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution

 
Interview Process

  • Stage 1: 30-minute introductory conversation
  • Stage 2: 2-hour deep-dive interview including scenario-based architectural problem solving
  • Final Round: Interviews with domain architects (e.g., Cloud, Data)

 
Compensation
Compensation will be competitive but may vary based on experience and market conditions. Final salary band will be confirmed during the process.
