Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to play a critical role within a connected data and product ecosystem. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing healthcare data solutions by developing foundational machine learning models that effectively learn from real patient data. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of data and integration engineers to build, prototype, and implement cutting-edge techniques that enhance patient-provider matching and outcomes. This role involves a blend of research review, model development, and innovative problem-solving in a collaborative environment.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of machine learning engineering experience with a strong foundation in ML fundamentals
  • Proven ability to apply research papers and cutting-edge approaches to real-world product problems
  • Experience in building deterministic, tunable ML models
  • Strong engineering mindset with an emphasis on research, modeling, and prototype development
  • Familiarity with learned decision trees, deep learning, and reinforcement learning techniques
  • Ability to review and implement novel research into practical prototypes

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience in healthcare or related industries involving patient data

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (a PhD is not required but a research-oriented mindset is valuable)
  • Proven track record in ML research and engineering with experience translating research into applied solutions

Other Requirements:

  • The role requires on-site presence three days a week in Palo Alto, with the remainder of the time flexible
  • Ability to review research papers, implement models, and develop prototypes in a collaborative team
