Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Director of External Communications & Public Relations to lead and elevate the organization’s external communications strategy during a significant period of transformation and growth.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced communications professional who can serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior leadership while also executing the foundational work required to build and strengthen a modern corporate communications function.

The Director will lead external communications initiatives including proactive media relations, executive visibility, thought leadership, product and corporate storytelling, industry/trade media engagement, and communications surrounding key business developments. This individual will work closely with marketing, senior leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop compelling narratives and ensure consistent messaging across audiences.

The ideal candidate will bring the seniority, maturity, executive presence, and judgment to serve as a trusted right hand to the communications leader and a potential successor over time.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, external communications, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success leading proactive media relations and pitching stories to journalists and media outlets.
• Strong experience with B2B communications, particularly trade publications, industry media, and specialized audiences.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into compelling, accessible narratives.
• Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring communications professionals.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to establish credibility with senior leaders and stakeholders.
