Job Summary

A well-established organization in the transportation sector is looking for a dedicated and technically proficient OT Technical Services Specialist to support critical operational systems. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of industrial control systems and cybersecurity, ensuring the safety, reliability, and security of roadway infrastructure. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing OT systems related to Intelligent Transportation Systems and Toll Collection, playing a vital role in ensuring smooth and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain operational technology systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS, RTUs, and industrial networking hardware (switches, firewalls, routers).
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues within production and facility environments, with a focus on minimizing downtime.
  • Assist in designing, deploying, and managing OT network architecture, including network segmentation and security protocols such as Purdue Model implementation.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including patch management, endpoint protection, network monitoring, and access controls, to safeguard industrial systems.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and operations teams to align OT initiatives with organizational safety and operational goals.
  • Perform system backups, disaster recovery tests, and maintain comprehensive documentation of OT assets, configurations, and network diagrams.
  • Support vulnerability assessments, risk analyses, and audits to ensure OT security compliance with standards such as NIST, IEC 62443, and NERC CIP.
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for system upgrades, technical support, and lifecycle management.
  • Participate in incident response activities related to OT security events or system failures, including root cause analysis.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support for critical system issues, ensuring operational continuity.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • 5-7 years of supporting industrial control systems, SCADA, PLCs, or similar OT environments.
  • Experience with OT network architecture, segmentation, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong understanding of IT networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-time industrial settings.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and network diagrams.
  • Experience working in transportation, manufacturing, utilities, oil & gas, water/wastewater, or similar critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Competence working across office, control room, and field environments.
  • Willingness to use PPE as required and travel between facilities as needed.
  • Ability to respond to on-call emergencies outside standard hours.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Certifications such as CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, or EtherNet/IP.
  • Experience with industrial cybersecurity frameworks and vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with toll collection and intelligent transportation systems.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • 5-7 years of experience supporting industrial control and OT security.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to perform travel between multiple site locations.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency situations outside regular working hours.
  • Compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including the use of PPE when required.
