Job Summary

Epic Integration Specialist

About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing, venture-backed healthcare technology company using AI to simplify care navigation and improve how patients connect with the right providers.

The company partners with healthcare organizations to develop technology that improves provider matching, scheduling, referral management, and clinical workflows. Following strong early customer traction, the organization is expanding its platform across multiple healthcare systems and markets.

About the Role
A core part of the company’s platform involves integrating with healthcare partners through Epic and other electronic health record systems. These integrations enable the secure exchange of critical information, including provider data, referrals, patient records, medical histories, and clinical workflow data.

As an Epic Integration Specialist, you will own the full lifecycle of these integrations. You will work closely with healthcare partners, product leaders, software engineers, and AI/ML teams to translate technical requirements and clinical workflows into reliable, scalable integration solutions.

This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data, integration engineering, AI, and client relationship management. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on experience integrating third-party applications with Epic and can creatively navigate the technical and operational challenges that vary across healthcare organizations.

You should also be comfortable working directly with clients to understand their systems and workflows, lead projects toward successful launches, and establish trusted, long-term relationships.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and Own Epic and EHR Integrations
  • Identify the appropriate APIs and interfaces required to read and write data within Epic.
  • Architect integrations based on each healthcare partner’s unique Epic configuration and technical environment.
  • Build secure, reliable, and extensible integrations supporting provider data, referrals, patient information, and clinical workflows.
  • Develop a standardized framework that enables integrations to work consistently across the company’s products.
  • Scale the integration infrastructure to support multiple healthcare partners and EHR environments.
  • Support integrations with additional electronic health record platforms when needed.

Lead Partner Integrations

  • Work directly with healthcare organizations to understand their technical environments, workflows, and integration requirements.
  • Translate partner requirements into clear technical solutions and implementation plans.
  • Lead integration projects from initial discovery through testing, deployment, and launch.
  • Coordinate with internal product, engineering, and AI/ML teams throughout the implementation process.
  • Build strong partner relationships and help maintain integrations over the long term.
  • Troubleshoot technical and workflow-related challenges that arise during implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience building integrations with Epic.
  • Experience integrating third-party applications or platforms with Epic.
  • Strong backend engineering skills and systems-level thinking.
  • Experience working with FHIR, HL7, APIs, or related healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Experience collaborating directly with external partners or clients to gather requirements and incorporate feedback.
  • Ability to work through ambiguous technical problems and define solutions from first principles.
  • Experience transforming new or complex technical approaches into testable prototypes.
  • Strong communication, project leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing products that read or write referral, patient, provider, scheduling, or clinical workflow data within Epic.
  • Experience integrating with multiple healthcare organizations or Epic environments.
  • Experience working with medical AI or healthcare technology products.
  • Experience extracting structured information from PDFs, images, or other unstructured healthcare documents.
  • Experience integrating with electronic health record systems beyond Epic.

Examples of Relevant Experience

  • Built extensible third-party Epic integrations supporting medical or clinical data across multiple healthcare partners.
  • Worked extensively with FHIR APIs and HL7 interfaces.
  • Designed integration frameworks that could be reused across multiple clients or environments.
  • Integrated software products with Epic and other EHR platforms.
  • Led healthcare integration projects from technical discovery through production launch.
