Azure Cloud Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Azure Cloud Engineer to support and improve a Microsoft Azure and on-premises infrastructure environment. This individual will work across cloud engineering, systems infrastructure, identity management, security, and disaster recovery to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable IT services.

The ideal candidate has strong experience administering Microsoft Azure in a hybrid enterprise environment, connecting cloud services with existing on-premises systems. This role combines infrastructure engineering and project delivery with ongoing operational support, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.

• Maintain hybrid cloud environments connecting Azure with on-premises infrastructure.

• Support Azure virtual machines, networking, storage, Windows Server, and VMware environments.

• Manage Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity services, including MFA, Conditional Access, role-based access control (RBAC), privileged access, and identity lifecycle management.

• Plan and execute cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, application deployments, and system enhancements.

• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, security, and capacity.

• Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, including recovery testing and documentation.

• Establish and maintain recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs).

• Automate infrastructure administration, reporting, and operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Identify opportunities to improve cloud performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.

• Collaborate with networking, information security, application development, and business teams to deliver infrastructure solutions.

• Manage incidents, service requests, changes, and problem resolution in accordance with established service-level agreements (SLAs).

• Maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, project updates, and operational procedures.

• Support infrastructure security, compliance, asset management, and IT service management processes.

• Participate in scheduled after-hours support and rotational on-call coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in systems infrastructure engineering, administration, or support.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.

• Demonstrated experience supporting hybrid cloud architectures and connectivity between Azure and on-premises infrastructure.

• Working knowledge of VMware virtualization and Microsoft Windows Server administration.

• Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, including hybrid identity, MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, and privileged access management.

• Understanding of infrastructure security, availability, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.

• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure issues and supporting production environments.

• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and project coordination skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Willingness to participate in a rotational on-call schedule and occasional evening or weekend support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, dashboards, and alerting.

• Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Bash, or Python.

• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Microsoft Intune, and/or Okta.

• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Cohesity and Zerto, or comparable solutions.

• Experience supporting SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, Azure Cosmos DB, or Azure Data Factory.

• Familiarity with IT service management platforms such as ServiceNow.

• Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and enterprise security or compliance standards.

• Experience with Azure DevOps, Agile project delivery, technical standards, or infrastructure documentation.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with participation in rotational on-call coverage and occasional extended hours or weekend work as needed.

Compensation

Base salary range: $106,600–$181,324 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will combine hands-on Azure engineering with traditional enterprise infrastructure experience. They should be comfortable managing hybrid environments, troubleshooting production systems, securing identities and access, and supporting reliable business-critical services.

Candidates with strong Azure infrastructure, Entra ID, Windows Server, VMware, and disaster recovery experience are especially encouraged to apply.
